APPENDIX B: PROVIDENCE SEMINARY 22
INTRODUCTORY NOTE: It is with great heartfelt excitement that Irene and I launch out in this step of faith to answer a call by pastors, teachers, and lay leaders for a way to train those who have a sincere desire to grow in a deeper knowledge of the Word of God but with perhaps not the same availability or opportunity to attend a traditional place of learning. Our mission is to develop a process for Biblical discipleship that trains and equips people for service in cross-cultural settings by communicating God’s Word through teaching and modelling. We see that many people desire training and want to grow deeper in their own personal discipleship with Christ. We also recognize that in many parts of the world the church of Jesus Christ is growing in leaps and bounds and many people including the pastors are untrained in preaching and teaching skills, with many being college and career age. They desire training but are unable to leave their homes or churches for formal Bible School training. They are unable to come to us, so we feel called to go to them with a mobile Bible school. Currently we offer three levels of discipleship training. 1. Project Ezra 2. Project Disciples 3. Project Shepherds All training is designed to fit into the busy schedules of our students. Presently, we aim to provide classes in a night school setting and in one week block sessions. Following the successful completion of the individual levels student’s can earn a Certificate from Project L.A.M.B.S and/or a Diploma of Ministry from Providence Theological Seminary. Students also have the option of using Project Disciples and Project Shepherds credits towards the completion of a B. A. from Living Faith Bible College.

We are not simply offering them ‘fish’ but rather teaching them ‘how to fish.’ Another goal after the courses are completed is that each leader will have their own small library of helpful study tools enabling them to continue to grow and minister effectively for the Lord, in a sense, giving them a fishing tackle box of their own, which will help them feed many others. We believe that God breathed life into this vision and so it is by faith that we continue on trusting that our King and Lord will receive all glory and praise.
History of Project L.A.M.B.S. International In the fall of 1996, the Lord challenged our hearts to shift from a pastor’s view of discipling, to a broader world-view. In January 1997, I resigned as pastor of a local church with a vision to reach further abroad with the Word of God. I shared with Dr. David Smith and Dr. Chuck Nichols of Providence Theological Seminary and they greatly encouraged my wife and I to develop what God was laying on our hearts. In March of 1997, we travelled to Jamaica where we met several pastors very concerned about the need for training and discipling their young people as leaders in their churches. We made a proposal to come and teach Bible classes as an extension of Providence Theological Seminary. They made a motion (at their annual convention) to accept our proposal and it was unanimously carried. From that point of joining our hearts in agreement with our brothers and sisters in Jamaica, we have been working towards developing the courses for the mobile Bible School, as well as for the Project. The fellowship of churches we belong to, The Fellowship of Christian Assemblies in Canada, have shown great interest and support for this work. We also are in partnership with Providence College & Seminary, Christian Ministries, Voice of the Martyrs, Living Faith Bible College, and Biblical Literature Fellowship. Borge Langerud, a long-time pastor and missionary to Jamaica, expressed joy and enthusiasm when we shared our vision with him. In 2001, we became incorporated and received our charity number from the Government of Canada. Today we are ministering in Canada, Myanmar, Ukraine, Africa, Jamaica, Mexico, Israel, and China, having over 300 students enrolled world wide. We have opportunities as the Lord provides and as people come forward to help to go out to at least another 15 countries. Please pray for God’s leading, strength and wisdom.
CORPORATE MISSION STATEMENT “To train and equip people for Christian service in cross-cultural and other settings, through teaching, publishing and distributing Christian printed and recorded materials; to organize and support missionaries and pastors; and by any other means.”
STATEMENTS WE BELIEVE AND VALUE 1. SCRIPTURE We are committed to the clear and accurate communication of God’s Word which is timeless and timely, relevant to the common needs of all people. Therefore we desire to proclaim it in such a way that it ministers grace and urges obedience to all that hear it. 2. GOSPEL MESSAGE The Gospel message comes to us as good news, speaking to us about Christ’s virgin birth, life, death, resurrection, ascension and His soon second coming. Therefore it should be presented in such a way that it is simple and relevant to the hearer, becoming the central foundation stone to all one’s beliefs and actions. 3. LORDSHIP SALVATION Salvation is not just making Christ our Saviour, but realizing that through a free choice, we have to die to our will and are now making Christ Lord of our lives. Therefore, Lordship salvation turns us into stewards of what we have been given by the Lord. We no longer are the owner but are entrusted with all that Christ gives to us, to take care of and to use for His glory. 4. ABIDING IN CHRIST Abiding brings us into a direct relationship with Christ, giving us roots, strength, life, and fruit that will last. Therefore, we have a heritage that stretches throughout the Old and New Testament, to the present, which gives us identity, security, and hope, not in ourselves, but in Christ Jesus. 5. FAMILY Marriage is “yoke fellowship” between a man and a woman, united in God, with the hope that out of this union would come children, which are a heritage from God. Therefore the family becomes a picture of a small church that is striving towards harmony and unity with each other and should be held and guarded with great importance within the larger church family. 6. DISCIPLESHIP LIFESTYLE We seek to fulfil Christ’s command to “make disciples.” It is our purpose to build up the body of Christ by example and effective training through developing strong relationships with fellow disciples. Therefore we are committed to train people for diverse ministries in and alongside the local Church, which involves seeking the lost, establishing believers, and equipping workers for the work of service. 7. BODY MINISTRY Body ministry is relationship with the Triune God and with fellow believers, abiding together as a complete vine that has embodied within it fullness, fruit and gifts. Therefore life emanates from the root, into the branches and out into the fruit through a complete living body of love. 8. SERVICE The Holy Spirit empowers the believers for the work of service allowing us to be joint heirs with Christ, covering us in His grace and righteousness. Therefore enabling us to stand not in our strength but in His strength, carrying out His will, not because of who we are, but because of who He is in us, making it possible for us to be servants for His kingdom. 9. SIMPLICITY Simplicity is the key for one’s life and for reaching a lost world that is looking for balance and a clear interpretation of God’s Word, as demonstrated in and through God’s people. Therefore we must present margins that will keep our walk with Christ free from worldly entanglement, which in turn will make room for us to help redeem a lost world. 10. LEADERSHIP BY MENTORING We hope to help produce leaders who will mentor others for the kingdom of heaven, giving them the needed tools and training so that they will be able to train and equip others also. 11. ASSISTING ORGANIZATIONS We desire to come alongside other ministries so that we may help the members of these different organizations make disciples for the work of service to which they see God calling them. Therefore we want to make material and personnel available to them, - to help them in training people, who will be able to carry out the great commission. 12. HARVEST TIME The harvest is ready. Now we need to equip labourers who will bring that harvest in and who will be able to prepare that fruit in such a way that when it is planted it will produce more fruit. Therefore we desire to see fruit that will come forth from the fields, be engrafted into the vine, and bear more fruit that will last.
STATEMENT OF FAITH We believe: 1. In the Holy Bible as the inspired Word of God and as the final authority in all matters of Christian life and doctrine. (11 Timothy 3:16, 17) 2. In the One True God, in the Trinity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16; John 1:1; Acts 5:3,4; 1 John 5:8) 3. In the virgin birth of Jesus the Messiah, being conceived by the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 1:23-25; Luke 1:34, 35) 4. In the bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, and His ascension to the right hand of the Father. (Ephesians 1:19-23; Acts 1-8-11, 2:24) 5. In salvation through repentance of sin and faith in Jesus Christ and His blood shed for our redemption. (Acts 4:12; Romans 5:9; Ephesians 2:8-10) 6. In the believer’s water baptism by immersion in which a believer identifies with Christ in His death, in His burial, and in His resurrection to newness in Life. (Mark 16:16; Romans 6:1) 7. In the filling of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38; 19:1-6), with the gifts (I Corinthians 12-14), fruit (Galatians 5:22. 23), and ministries (Ephesians 4:11ff) 8. In exercising the privilege and authority of believers and in praying in Jesus’ name to appropriate the provisions in the redemptive work of Christ for healing and deliverance unto wholeness of spirit, soul, and body. (Luke 4:18; John 14:12; James 5:14; Isaiah 53:4-6) 9. In the life and walk in the Spirit which makes us overcome and able to live the victorious Christian life. (Romans 8:11ff; Galatians 5:16-18) 10. In the resurrection of all the dead-believers to eternal life (1 Corinthians 15), and unbelievers to eternal damnation (Revelations 20-4-15). 11. In the imminent Second Coming of Jesus Christ (Acts 1:11; John 14:1ff; Revelations 22:12). 12. In the great commission to the church to go into all the world and preach the Gospel, making disciples of all nations, baptizing converts in the name of the Godhead, and teaching them to observe all of Christ’s commands. (Mark 16:15, 16; Matthew 28:19, 20)
PROJECT ‘L.A.M.B.S.’ DISTINCTIVES AND OBJECTIVES Objectives: V To fill a gap between Sunday School, new converts’ class, and formal Bible School. V To teach people to be fishers of men. V To bring people into deeper discipline which we believe will cause deeper discipleship in Christ. V To build hope and confidence with the student in Christ to help them see that their significance, security and self-worth come through Christ. V To produce disciples who will live a lifestyle of discipleship in their everyday walk. V To equip people for serving in the work of ministry. V To build and equip people into strong relationships with other mature believers who will model for them sound Biblical principles and doctrines. V To help spread around the world resources and materials that will strengthen and encourage the local church. Distinctives: V It goes out to where the people are and allows people to stay in their own setting, keeping their jobs, and living with their families. V It is set in a modular format to accommodate the busy schedules of people. V It is designed to make the financial burden on students as low as possible. Students are only responsible to pay for books and hand-outs, as teachers raise funds to pay their own way. V It leaves students with a small, functional library that will help them go out and minister to others. V It trains and prepares people to serve with confidence in the harvest field that Christ says is ripe, but where labourers are few. V It fulfils the great commission of people going out from their Jerusalem to the outer-most parts of the world to make disciples. (Matthew 28:19-20) V It fulfils a heart call of many people to get some basic overall training so that they can fulfil a desire of serving the Lord with integrity and humility.

D. LECTURE SERIES FOR CHURCHES/CONFERENCES
Introduction: We acknowledge that many believers want training and desire to grow deeper in their own personal relationship with Jesus Christ. They desire more training but are often unable to leave their homes, employment or churches to attend a formal Bible school. We believe our call as an organization is to come along side the local church to help train and equip believers for discipleship ministry. An effective way of providing this training is through weekend workshops and conferences designed specifically for your church.
Lecture Series Workshops: This ministry is designed for churches who are interested in hosting a weekend workshop or conference on a specific topic for its leadership and laity. The Lecture Series presents the same course materials available in the Diploma of Ministry programs without the requirements of applications, textbooks, exams or assignments. A Certificate will be awarded by Project L.A.M.B.S. International upon attendance of the Lecture Series. For further information concerning the cost and availability of the lecture series workshops please contact our Director of Schools, Kevin Clace at the head office.

PROJECT L.A.M.B.S. DIRECTORS: Jim and Irene were married for over 33 years and have two children, Joshua and Rachel, as well as five grandchildren, Adrienna, Jeremy, Sadie, Tyah and Anna-Irene. They have been in the ministry for over 30 years, and have experience in a variety of ministries from church planting, children’s ministry, street ministry, youth ministry, and pastoring. In addition to a number of special speaking occasions in churches and camps, they have travelled and ministered to some degree in the USA, Mexico, Ukraine, Myanmar, Israel, Jamaica, and across most of Canada. Jim’s education has taken him into various types of ministry experiences. He has completed his B.R.E. and his M.A. from Briercrest and his Doctorate of Ministry from Providence Theological Seminary in the spring of 1999. Jim carries the title and position with Providence as “Director of Equipping Ministries,” and professor at large. On March 9th 2005 our co-director and co-founder Irene Humphries went home to be with Christ after a lengthy batter with ovarian cancer. She will be deeply missed in the family and at Project LAMBS International. On May 6, 2006 a new chapter has begun with the marriage of James to Hkaw Win. She was raised and trained mostly in the land of Myanmar. Hkaw Win has a B.T.H. –University Degree and a Master of Divinity Degree. She is currently finishing up a second Masters Degree at Providence Theological Seminary in Christian Education. She will be involved in teaching and office work in the Project LAMBS office; plus she will be doing some translation work and interpretation work for the Ministry in Myanmar when James & Hkaw Win go there. Our walk with Christ has taken us down many challenging pathways but we have seen the faithfulness of our Lord and Saviour in every area. His grace has been sufficient. CLOSING NOTE: Thank you for taking the time to look into the ministry of Project LAMBS. If you are interested in getting involved as a student, volunteer, or as teacher, please feel free to fill out the mini application form and send it to us. Thank you and God bless you in your journey of discipleship. Your servant in Christ, Dr. James P. Humphries II Corinthians 1:4
Appendix A Project L.A.M.B.S International desires to empower local leaders to equip and train as many disciples as possible for the harvest field in the timeliest fashion. This is not achievable however if the office staff and board are expected to oversee the functioning of every school. Therefore, for each ministry field we desire to see a local director work together with a Canadian director to organize schools, develop teachers, and deliver training to the masses. To co-ordinate this process we have outlined a leadership structure we would like to see followed when establishing training schools throughout the World.
