Growing Godly Children

Definition:

Children

Youngster, adolescent, offspring.

Scripture Reading:

Only take heed to yourself, and diligently keep yourself, least you forget the things your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. And teach them to your children and your grandchildren. … Gather the people to Me, and I will let them hear My words, that they may learn to fear Me all the days they live on the earth, and that they may teach their children. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. … And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. But you must continue in the the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Deut 4:9-10; Deut 6:7; Ps 127:3; Prov 22:6; Eph 6:1, 4; 2 Tim 3:14-15

Discipleship Directive:

Children are a gift from God. They are conceived as a unique and special creation of God. Christ always had time for children and told his disciples that they should have a child like heart. When one puts their faith in Jesus Christ we become Christ’s children. We also need to remember to be patient and loving to the children that God puts around us whether they are physically humans, young in age or they are just babes in Christ Jesus. We are to help train and nurture as best as we can. They all are part of God’s family and we must show the complete fruit of the Spirit to all that we come into contact with each day.

Dedication Prayer:

Lord I know that I am your child and I pray that you will help me to grow and mature both in your Word and in your Spirit. Thank you that when I received you into my heart as Lord and Saviour you adopted me into your eternal family. Father please help me as your child to train up those children that you bring my way in you. Lord I know discipline is never easy, but it’s always done out of great love, because you only want the best for my life and that you want my life to bear fruit for Your glory.
